Senior Pet Care in Tucson

When your pet reaches their senior years, many things begin to change, but the transition can be smooth if you are prepared. At Spanish Trail Pet Clinic, we are here to be a part of every stage of your pet’s life, and the senior years are no exception! In fact, they are some of the most important years of your pet’s life.

We estimate that most pets begin to reach their senior years around the age of seven, although it varies for every pet. The best way to determine your pet’s life stage is through diligent medical care, frequent physical examinations, and open communication with our veterinarians.

Senior Pet Examinations

Examinations for your senior pet may be a little different from examinations for adult pets or young pets as there are new things to look out for. For senior pets, we recommend:

When senior pets begin to slow down and show symptoms of age, our veterinary team can help you identify signs of pain and discomfort. Pets often do their best to avoid showing weakness, but as the pet’s loving owner and their caring veterinarian, it is your and our job to read between the lines. We will work closely with you to ensure that your pet’s source of discomfort is identified and treated, to help improve their quality of life.

If you have questions about your senior pet’s needs or changes, we would love to help. Please contact our team today!
