When your pet needs surgery, the veterinary team at Spanish Trail Pet Clinic has the situation under control. We provide exceptional surgical services and we take great pride in the high level of care that we offer.
Our veterinarians recommend pre-surgical blood work for all pets, but especially seniors, in order to determine that they are healthy enough for anesthesia. We will often perform a blood test in advance of the surgery day, but it can also be performed the morning of the surgery. Our team will contact you the night before your pet’s surgery to give any necessary instructions about fasting, preparation, and paperwork. If you have questions, please contact us beforehand and we’ll be glad to provide answers.
No matter what surgical procedure your pet needs, the veterinary team at Spanish Trail Pet Clinic provides surgical monitoring. We strive to ensure that our patients are as safe as possible, whether they are coming in for a minor routine surgery or a major procedure. Surgical monitoring includes:
- Watchful care from a technician assigned to your pet from the moment they are anesthetized until they are safely awake
- Complete monitoring of all vitals throughout the procedure
- Heating pad to keep your pet’s body temperature regulated
We perform our surgeries using a surgical laser, which is the best technique available. A surgical laser creates a cleaner cut, decreasing bleeding, swelling, and healing time. After your pet’s surgery is complete, we keep your pet in a warm, comfortable area, under nurse observation, until they are fully awake. Our team will discuss surgical discharge instructions with you when you come to pick up your pet, and we’ll check in with you the next day to see how your pet is doing post-surgery.
Our team is here to support you throughout all of your pet needs. If you have questions about your pet’s upcoming surgery or recovery from a recent surgery, please contact us. We’ll be happy to help you in any way we can!
